Fabs 28-12-2010 05:22 PM

Congratulations to Craig for yet another great result : TQ + Win at broxtowe's christmas cracker

SimonW 28-12-2010 10:47 PM

Well done Craig.
Hi Fabs, Will you be bringing some bits to petit' with you ? Gearbox, rear tower, saddle conv'

Fabs 28-12-2010 11:07 PM

I'll bring everything I can.

I MAY have some spare gearboxes for sale, but either way I'll have some gearboxes with me.

I'm low on shock towers and as I'm trying to sort out a new sub contractor for the c/f parts, I'm not sure if I'll have many with me.

Here she is..finally

Just 1 thing to sort out and she's ready for the new season. ;)

njc11 29-12-2010 06:29 PM

Second time out for me with the MCS in saddle format..

Awesome!! the car is so much better  much better balanced and much more predicatable.. love it!

If it wasnt for being " punted " off by a certain schu driver i might have been in better contention for a higher finish at Broxtowe!

Fabs 30-12-2010 10:45 AM

Nice shell Geoffroy!

Very glad to hear you're finally getting on with the car Nick.

And now for the coming year, a nice present for the MCS

It's own dedicated website still not completely finished but enough so that you can start using it

JustARcFan 30-12-2010 11:10 AM

Hi Ludo,

My house painter did the job as usual, Jon Miller :D

Some pics of the saddle set up in mine..

Since taking these, ive removed the fan on the speedo, and had to move my PT onto my servo as it wasnt counting fitted where it is in the picture.

Im running the Big Bores, 25g on the servo and ive made up my own brass weight which goes between the gearbox and the tower.. these total 18g at the moment but have more which i can add to try. Ive tried the brass bulkhead but only in the original stick layout and to be honest didnt like it, I may try it again at somepoint now i have this new layout which improves balance massively

Like the web site fabs!

Hi Nick,

Very clean install.
Why did you take the fan of your esc??

Cheers

Hulk 30-12-2010 04:34 PM

imagine is due to using that ultra low, ugly bodyshell! lol :p

With the speedo located on top of the lipo, the shell probably catches on the fan.

caneye 31-12-2010 04:03 AM

nice.
does this mean the saddle chassis can only be used with low-profile servos?

Not at all mate, i use a standard Savox servo and everything fits perfectly. If you do use a low-profile servo there will be a gap between the servo and lipo, so just use some foam to fill the gap.

Fabs 31-12-2010 02:36 PM

Yep, if you look at the pictures of my car on the website, you'll notice one of the RB5 foam pads is stuck behind the servo (with double sided tape) to hold the lipo in place.

I knew it was a good idea to keep them in my box all this time :p

Fabs 31-12-2010 02:41 PM

Hey Nick, I've added pictures of your saddle layout on the website

JustARcFan 31-12-2010 03:10 PM

Here goes one from Portugal! I will try to post some detailed pictures of the inside and of some of mine customizations in the next few days.

Fabs 15-01-2011 10:11 PM

I would like to congratulate Craig Collinson for his excellent result at the Petit RCcultural race today.

With a good team work between us two we managed to nail the setup on his car and get the very sought after 10th spot in the A final.

With the corner table top causing big pile ups in the first laps, craig couldn't really make the most of it, but still managed to get a 7th and two 9th in the 3 legs finals to get 9th overall.

Well done to him for his excellent driving, you made me proud

Lowie 16-01-2011 01:18 AM

any Petit-setup available yet?

njc11 17-01-2011 09:50 AM

Ive emailed my set ups to Arno so should be up on petit at some point..

Car went really well for me.. Qualified in the D Final with Fab.. and beat him! :woot: lol!

Made small changes throughout the day which made it better for every run! This car has been transformed with the saddle conversion...

Lowie 17-01-2011 12:14 PM

i raced my MCS this weekend and have a question.
My car went very well until a ball-end broke off. It was the inner ball-end of the rear camberlink.
It broke at the threads. Luckely I always cut a slice in the bottom of the thread-part and I was able to simble screw the broken-off end out with a small screwdriver.
I also checked the other side and that ball-end was loose also. No problem there, just a question of using some threadlock, I guess ... but the next heat, after being repaired with a new ball-end an the proper washer (3mm) the car drove differently. The car had more rear-grip and so I missed steering.
I guess the car had been loose due to the slightly loose ball-ends ... which was good for the balance but bad for the ball-ends :) , hence the breaking
.
My question: how do I get that balance back? How do I loose some of that rear-grip that I now experienced with the 3mm-shimmed ball-end?

thx.

Fabs 17-01-2011 12:50 PM

you can do many things

first you could add more washers under that ball stud (but you may not have enough thread in the holder after that), you will have a similar but not identical effect if you lowered the outer ball stud.

Or you could add a rear roll bar

Or you could add some shims under the rear hinge pins holders (under both of them the same amount to keep the same kick up).

Fabs 17-01-2011 12:53 PM

For the setups, it'll have to wait until the end of the week, I'm travelling tomorrow and will send both the staggers and the mini pins setups to Arn0 asap.

Just wanna say a massive thanks to Fabs for his excellent support, knowledge and set up advise throughout the weekend. Couldnt have made the A without him.

We had some bad luck in the early rounds, should have been in the A after round 2 but lady luck didnt seem to be on our side. The car was dialled all day which allowed me to push hard in the last round of qualifying and back door the A.

As Fabs said the finals were difficult on such a tight and technical track, but lap times showed the pace of the car was right up there.

Craig

Fabs 17-01-2011 01:29 PM

You're too kind, you said what you wanted, I just made the car do it :p

njc11 17-01-2011 01:45 PM

Craig.. have to say mate you were defo flying... but so unlucky in all 3 legs :( next time mate, next time!

Lowie 17-01-2011 08:11 PM

Hey guys,

what's the difference when driving the saddlepack-layout?

And, Fabs, is it possible to order such a sadle-kit? Quanta costa?
and the same about the gearboxes: is it possible to order one (or two?)
