Will post some more pictures of the batt strap later tonight.

Its just a single post with a new countersunk screw holding the post in position and the motor cover dremeling out to the right spacing to fit weight under the cells

Now my new LiPo Hold In System is completed, thought i'd show it off :D

Very pleased with how it's come out.

I'm very anal when it comes to Wiring Installs, so i spent hours getting it right, so it was as neat as. Then after it's first run, i decided i couldn't live with the Velcro Straps. I had a few ideas and went off to attempt to make it.

This is the MK 1, but i'm very happy and think that'll do me. May even think about pricing it all up properly if people like them.

Let me know what you think.

Only the tiniest bit of Carbon. Was going to do it in Ali, but then thought, nah it's gotta be Carbon, especially as the Thumb 'Screws' are Brass.

You might just get one in.

You can see there's 2 rows of lead weight, that i basically threw in on Sunday, there's an 8mm gap. Then there's a 3mm gap between the Speedo and LiPo.

I have got my Servo mounted with the 2.5mm of shims, so it sits quite far forward though. This was to reduce the catching of the servo link on the top plate and to get the link nice and straight.

So all in, 11mm if you can mount your servo as far forward as mine. You might just do it.

Hope that helps.

What's up with all the custom battery straps? Isn't the velcro straps good enough or?

@ianhaye: Could you go into a bit more detail on what you've fixed your receiver on?

reg 01-04-2011 08:05 AM

the velco straps are messy(dont look nice:thumbsup:)and dont realy let the shell sit right

nickhudson 01-04-2011 08:12 AM

russmini - what is that holding the lipo at the rear of the car ? - can't quite figure it out from the photos ?. nice job btw - will be cutting some carbon this weekend !!

russmini 01-04-2011 10:55 AM

That is part of the 'System'

The LiPo slides into that, securing the rear fully. Then the front sits between 2 posts, holding the LiPo from moving sideways. Once the Carbon strap is put on and screwed down with the Thumbscrews, the LiPo is completely secure.

Think most people have missed that part of my 'System' as they were too busy drooling over Carbon & Brass sexyness, lol.

nickhudson 01-04-2011 11:08 AM

cool - what did you make it from or is it a completely new part ?

russmini 01-04-2011 11:43 AM

Yeh, all new. It's actually manufactured out of Steel. Would maybe be nicer out of Ali, but Steel has definate Pro's.
When i finished building the kit, fully ready to go, it weighed 1415g ! I threw some lead in, just to get it legal.
So with this added, and in Steel, there's an immediate addition of weight, right in the middle of the buggy. I have not weighed it though, so not sure of its total weight, but would imagine somewhere around 30-40gms. I will be taking it out to find out.

nickhudson 01-04-2011 01:47 PM

good stuff - i'm drawing up a new lower carbon battery tray (for the small lipo) to hold the battery & provide a location for the lead / brass under-lipo weight, two posts like your design & a top carbon strap.
