Yes.. you will need two 54425 since one of the Outdrives is longer that the other... you will need the short side..;) if you wanted to loose a little more weight and save some wear and tear on the outdrives you could also use 51469 x2 as well:D..

I have a whole bunch of other stuff that I have been test fitting and finding out what works from other cars:drool:

SiR_Dave 12-04-2014 05:43 AM

Electronics all wired up and suspension installed :)

Body fit testing up later tomorrow:D

So, how are we all planning on protecting the lovely alloy chassis from scratches, scrapes, etc?

I have (maybe rather foolishly), already cut up the undertray and mounted the side sections as per the manual. I plan on using the Proline Phantom B44.2 body, which is narrower than the full undertray anyway, so wouldn't have been able to use the full cover. Replacement Tamiya undertrays (#54133 TRF511 body & chassis fairing) don't seem to be too readily available either.

Ideally, someone would produce a pre-cut protective sheet for the chassis, with screw holes. They are available for other buggies, but as the 503 is so new, it could be some time before they are available. I have some carbon-effect vinyl A4 sheets that would offer some protection, but then there wouldn't be any screw holes without a whole lot of precision cutting being required... :(

Gents

Will I be able to fit normal size servo in a TRF503??Or just low profile is an option??

Thanks

patez 12-04-2014 02:13 PM

yep you can use std servo. and theres still room left for a small receiver.

jaq 12-04-2014 02:38 PM

I have Futaba R614FF-E, quite small, we will see in a week:)

Thanks

I'm using a JConcepts standard blank chassis protector sheet on the bottom of the 503.. it's pretty thick and durable... I use it on my other buggy and has lasted over 30 plus practice and race days with out any issues of ripping ;)

Now for the 511 lower chassis protector.. I am only using a small section of it and it will just the back section near the battery trays moved in close as possible and then use Velcro to mount the body and they use the front body mount posts.. it you use the rear mount post they tend to rip a hole in the body since there is really not too much mount too back there.. so I just turn the rear body mount upside down and use the mount as a stopper and let the Velcro in the back hold the body down :)
