is your gearbox noisy? I run mine arouns, and it was a little noisy.... handled well on the kit Pro shocks, need pistons though.

To be honest it did seem a little noisy at first. I have just put a couple of packs through it with an 8.5 brushless and it seems to be ok.

mine is still a little noisey, finding the slipper a little fiddly to adjust, think the nut needs to be worn out a little on an axle, free it up a little.

Are your inner and outer slipper hubs the same? The manual gives them different part numbers, but I think it's a typo.

Are the chassis between the buggy and truck the same?
What is the wheelbase for each?

anyone else having problems with the gearbox and the engine mount plate (green bit) when building it says to put thread lock on to hold it on , the long screws you use barely go into the hole and all thats holding them is the thread lock , after racing my mad rat sunday it is now loose , anyone have this problem or got a way to solve it ??

Don't know about that yet as gearbox = last thing to do :p

if you put the screws in through the gearbox, then put a drop of threadlock on the end, then put the plate on, should be fine, to be honest, all 2wd gearboxes are the same.

The moterplate of an ulitma (original one) is held on in the same way. I have raced and built several of them for many years and never even had to use thread-lock to hold the plate in place. Just a bit of torque is all you need.

Coming to think of it, the screws always had bit f friction with the hole in the case and this probably helped in stopping the screw from unscrewing itself also. If you put the screw in the case without tapping into the motoerplate, can it fall out freely? Ifso: try covering part of the thread with teflon tape: the type used to seal tubes at the connections.

ran at rhr on sunday,apart from popping a ball joint,couldnt break a thing.very impressed for a buggy of this price.had plenty tumbles,got landed on many times and still kept going.i tried to keep car as close to stock as possible but by round 3 only5changes were done.kyosho hub on front axle,kyosho silver rear/orange front springs,25wt in rear and 32.5wt in front shocks.kept standard shock cos theres no need to change em.letrs see how it goes at eden park this weekend with a better driver at the sticks.many thanks jez.

so far i have changed the shock's to assosiated b4 threaded with kit spring's

its running nimh 4600's and an ezrun 13t brushless system.

Next will be a full ball bearing set and it wil be ready to hit the track :lol:

I have to build mine yet, but I intend to try racing it this year with a budget of £50 to cover spares / hop-ups. So £100 all in to race for a season.

It will be interesting to see how competitive it will be :)

the basic shocks are quite poor , i raced it sunday and the shock cap popped off 3 times due to them being plastic threaded , so i super glued em on :)

the transmission also seems to not run so smoothly and its making my motor hot , maybe due to no ball bearings in the car ?? or maybe my gearing ?? ive ran the 21t stock pinion and a 23/29/34 all making the motor quite hot , what have you guys ran ?

also can someone point me in the direction of some wheels and tyres for the mad rat , running on astroturf/tarmac , mainly astroturf

Id advise you go for the b4 threaded one's as i have them all round on mine.
Ball bearing's are a must! [email protected] £8.50 its worth it as i just melted my gear box with a 13turn (brushless) running brushing's so i have a set on the way :lol:

there is nothing wrong with the Ansmann green threaded ones, to be honest, and probably cheaper, hopefully have some pistons coming out soon for them.

No bearings will get the motor warm though.

im after the shocks that come with the x-pro but cant find them to buy anywhere

any info on the wheels/tyres ?

oh and im going to get some bearings from walawala on ebay :)

X-pro spares will be availabale in the uk in approx 2 weeks. The green threaded shocks will be priced at £26.99 a pair.

so a set will cost me more than my whole kit did :) mind you the plastics ones aint much for jumping/racing

how about the proper turnbuckles off the x-pro ? how much will they be ?
