Would a ZX-R MK2 come with alloy or plastic ot-16 knuckles? And likewise a MK1? I have that yellow specimen sitting next to my ZX-S now, will post some pics later on

Plastic. Alloy only came on zx.

HKS_TRD 17-05-2013 10:46 PM

Thanks so seems the car came with the correct parts then. It has UJs on the rear as well. I keep forgetting what shocks the RR came with. The gold shocks on this car are mint but I'm tempted to put my new equalzers on it. I find the MK2 front shock tower really ugly I'll put a MK1 tower on it. What I'd really like to do is find some carbon sheet that matches the chassis and top deck and have towers battery straps and motor brace cut for it

I'm scared *waves at iso* ;)

I really enjoy the fact that we can have a good laugh at the same time as helping each other out (although I am pretty sure Iso's demands are always serious!)

Back on topic! I really want some alloy hingepin holders for my rebuild but I seem to recall people saying the new one's on Ebay are not correct? Can anyone help me find some? I want the ones that are the same as the Kyosho LAW part, not the ugly alloy block ones and ideally in blue (I'd prefer black but I don't think they were ever made)?

Welshy40 18-05-2013 10:13 PM

The ones Paragu sells are crap so dont buy them. They are fractionally too small.

Im unsure if the ebay ones are ok. Im going to have the two inner ones made from a block in the next month or so.

I think it's the Paragu ones on Ebay that I'm referring to, these ones:

HKS_TRD 19-05-2013 01:41 AM

I didn't realise there was a Kyosho law pivot block, any more details on that? The front Pargu pivot blocks are OK but the rears are a bit too narrow. They are still useable though. I have three sets (long story) so I'm looking to sell one set

HKS_TRD 19-05-2013 02:38 AM

Hoping someone can help me out here, I have been inspecting the yellow ZX-R and found need a couple things for it.

The attached image is from the ZX-R supplement I need the tapered washer, I have all the other parts in the picture, I actually need two pairs, does anyone have any or know if that part is available new on its own. Its odd that it doesn't come with the kingpin parts

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps038b9310.jpg

The other thing is would anyone have a new or mint rear half of the front gearbox, I know its the front that usually breaks so not sure if anyone has the rear half as on the yellow ZX-R the thread is stripped for the lower right shock tower screw and that one goes into the rear of the gearbox case I believe. I am yet to strip a lazer completely so not as familiar with it as I am with the Mid

James where do you source all your stainless fasteners from?

oli4ke 19-05-2013 03:42 AM

Hi Dan,

I have a spare front gearbox available...

I'm not sure of the LAW number but I'm pretty sure they did exist and anodised in Kyosho blue too. How much are you looking to sell a set for and what colours have you got?

HKS_TRD 19-05-2013 09:29 AM

I have two blue sets and one silver set, which color do you prefer?

Welshy40 19-05-2013 11:24 AM

What? Do you mean the screws? If yes the companys gone bust but if you ebay a search for stainless steel 3mm button head screws and go for 5mm, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14mm then that should be all the sizes you need.

RPC have a good range and also sponsor oople:

http://rpcracing.co.uk/en/668-metric

Also, I've been wondering if the original ZX-5 upper king pin would make a good replacement for the parts you are looking for (cause I need them as well I think). You can see what they look like in this auction:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3Racing-ZX...-/350713106819

Welshy40 19-05-2013 12:33 PM

Personally i prefer the king pin for the zx5 where is a collar with washer end and you screw into it pretty much like the zxrr version. Advantages are you can avoid king pin losses.

kek23k 19-05-2013 12:46 PM

Does that mean the ZX5 ones fit with no problems, James? Do they end up the same height as the original ZXRR config?

Tbh ive got a pair somewhere but think they do fit ok however you can still buy the zxrr king pin holders, unsure of the part numbers.

Before I go ripping my pretty buggies apart can someone tell me if the standard zxr layshaft and slipper could be fitted into my runner Turbo Optima Mid Special?

Worth a try?

isobarik 23-05-2013 09:51 AM

Welsh you have pm

Welshy40 23-05-2013 11:00 AM

Iso ive replied.

HKS_TRD 23-05-2013 05:09 PM

Well my Lazer collection has expanded a little
I will strip it and give it a once over but the yellow car did not dissapoint, it was in better shape than I expected
It has uni joints on the rear, does the MKII or RR come with them on the rear?
I'm actually going to put my MKI tower on the front

You can see the stickers I finally put on the sides and top of the ZX-S wing
I need to put some shocks and wheels on the ZX so I can take a pic of all three Lazers together

Very very nice, your collection is getting more colourful

Welshy40 24-05-2013 12:22 PM

Update - As you all recall the original tub mold went missing years ago and I was gutted, especially when I paid for the mold to be made.

Now ive done it again and from what I am being told the mold is coming along nicely. When done that mold will only be based at fibrelyte until that is no one buys this item anymore (I hope it keeps selling), then when that happens it will be coming home to me.

No one will be able to buy the mold or borrow it but everyone
who has wanted a CF tub chassis will be able to buy one by the end of September this year, obviously once I am happy with the finish on the first one they make.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Looks like happy racing again guys.

Now thats a question, I am unsure. Alcyon may know this as he has one and also he has designed a new layshaft as well.

Welshy40 25-05-2013 11:25 AM

Iso,

Please answer my email or pm. Cheers mate

Welshy40 04-06-2013 09:28 AM

Yup not bad, but a tad expensive. Cheaper to buy one of the new chassis' later this year.

HKS_TRD 04-06-2013 12:16 PM

I spotted that too

If you look closely at the pictures when you zoom in, the car looks like its led a hard life.

From experience things only look better in pics than in real life

Still a very cool Lazer either way

Welshy40 04-06-2013 12:28 PM

Yup, i forgot about the hing pin protectors. That was going to be on the proto but at the last minute decided against it. Good to have if your doing serious jumps.

HKS_TRD 04-06-2013 10:43 PM

The chassis appears to be the same as mine in that the front and rear extensions are wider than the standard chassis to cover the hinge pins. The only problem is if you run aftermarket hinge pins that sit the pins lower (e.g. the rear RW racing ones) the wishbones foul on the chassis. You can see he has cut the front and rear of the chassis back to clear the wishbones.
How will the new design look in these sections?
