Yes you can always rely on Ron, he is a top bloke and has saved my bacon on several occassions. I intend to do the Maritime Winter series this year, all five events so hope we can get a few more ZXRs down there to race and have some fun.

Welshy40 15-04-2013 12:20 PM

Hope so mate, maybe you can do one for this winter series at the end of the year.

kek23k 15-04-2013 07:23 PM

James, what's the date on the winter series? I'd love to do it but I'm not sure if the car will be ready and I haven't driven in 20 years!

Unsure at the moment but possibly september up to march, theres five races but is too early for dates. If you cant dont worry. Besides im going all out to get the layshaft sorted and chassis as im aiming for an A final in at least one of them.

kek23k 15-04-2013 11:52 PM

If there are 5 races I should be able to make at least one and it's indoor that I want to do so seems like a good fit. Best get some radio gear sorted! :D

Welshy40 16-04-2013 05:39 AM

Game on. It would be fun if we had more, heck there were three Losi XXX4's there and would have been nice out numbering them.

Welshy40 16-04-2013 05:42 AM

Im going all out here, i bought a Sanwa Gemini the other day and also a 2.4ghz hack so when it arrives i will fit it, so not only will my car be nostalgic but the transmitter as well. Best one i ever had in the early 90's.

DanB4 16-04-2013 06:22 AM

Did we ever find out what happened to oosh?

Welshy40 16-04-2013 04:19 PM

Well what appeared to be his bro said he died in a car accident. Anyway going foward we are almost there re layshaft design and hope the last design is perfect. Now waiting for it to test.

Then when sorted it full on chassis.

What's the difference with the new layshaft design? Is this the one that uses the full B4 slipper?

Also, what does everyone think regarding shocks? Should I get some platinum ones to keep it authentic ZXRR, ZX5 velvets or go full on with Big Bores?

Finally, can anyone confirm if Fibrelyte has a template for the Teamline front shock mount (see attaced)? Or does anyone have one that I could buy or get a template made from?

That's just a pic found online (maybe even on this thread I can't remember), I don't actually have the shock mount but I want one. I just have the standard ZXRR front mount at the moment.

Thanks for all the answers iso :D

HKS_TRD 16-04-2013 10:29 PM

Anyone got the pivot block that goes behind the front gearbox that they are willing to sell. I have a new set of pivot blocks here but that one is missing from the packet so trying to complete the set

Leave the shocks as they are, may be a good idea to replace all the seals though.

Fibrelyte may have done a copy but am unsure. You can scan the tower or send them it to get it made. I dont think i ever owned that tower so is probably why it wasnt copied.

Layshaft is shorter so not only can the B4 slipper be used but the new VTS as well and in my opinion think the VTS will add speed.

Sorry ive not got a spare

Welshy40 17-04-2013 05:48 AM

Well as i love driving my vintage buggy i thought why not buy the transmitter i used to use, boy was that a tough one. I used to own a Sanwa Gemini Exerd and boy was it good and simple, but finding just one was hard, that was until three days ago when one appeared on ebay for £35 and looks like its been used for two months, looks prestine.

Now to fit my Frsky 2.4ghz hack conversion and all needed upgrades will be done. then my car will look totally vintage as well as the old fogey driving it:thumbsup:

Welshy40 17-04-2013 05:51 AM

I forgot to mention that i also bought a KO Esprit two with the conversion as well, as i used to own one of those so choices choices.

Welshy40 17-04-2013 05:54 AM

Iso,

Congrats mate, 200 pages and your thread is still going strong.

Ive sent you a CAD drawing, can you read it? If not i will post tonight a jpeg version but hope my design appeals to you as it based on the zx design, otherwise will just copy the zxs pivot plate design.

To celebrate 200 pages I finally managed to dig out a pic of my original Lazer, taken in the 80's! I don't think the 2.2 wheels had been released so this is pre-ZXR. Apologies for the quality but I don't have a scanner so I had to take a pic of the pic with my phone. Awww, nostalgia :D:D:D

Welshy40 17-04-2013 07:30 AM

I was using those towers

I think lazer zxr with losi xx4 and schumacher cat 2000 and 3000 are the best 4wd cars in RC history...
Thanks oople funs for all information given...

Welshy40 17-04-2013 08:18 PM

Id say lazer first, yokomo yz10 second, Losi Xx4 third, xxx4 fourth, schumacher bosscat fifth, tamiya trf511 sixth, schumacher 2000 seventh, then 3000. Thats my opinion anyway.

Nice car, some items look very familiar. Is that an associated or yokomo spur, or one of my designs from RW?

Crashtest33 17-04-2013 10:29 PM

Based of IFMAR results, the Dogfighter is the greatest surely?!

I dunno Crash you are talking about Masami's reign during this period. I think he would have been capable of a World's A Main driving a Tamiya Hornet!

Well maybe a little exaggeration but you get my point ;D

That's a very good point! A special driver indeed. Lol
Shame the ZX-R never got a title tho. Did it make a podium??

It won the BRCA nationals (Jamie Booth), European nationals (Ellis Stafford) and made a couple of Worlds A's (Oops forgotten names) but dont think it made 2nd or 3rd.

kek23k 18-04-2013 06:06 PM

Well remembered iso, I was gonna say I remember Rick Howart placing in a Worlds main. I got my Lazer the year after I think, upgraded from a Mid:D

mintzant 18-04-2013 06:15 PM

The spur gear is tamiya 96t and the pads are associated!!!
I just make a bigger hole in the center with lazer to fit exactly the bearing!!
