Id be lying if I said I was happy with my photos from the rally, had very little motivation due to the weather and the fact that halfway into the first day dispite being up from the early hours of the morning I had seen a grand total of about 5 cars.

Thanks! The light actually picked up a little bit for few minutes to let me get some nice colours, it wasnt in an overly idea position but it worked :D

Sabben 05-02-2008 12:15 PM

Wow, great pics there Mole2k! I really liked them:D

How do you manage to get so sharp pics but still got that look that makes the cars go fast? If you know what I mean:rolleyes:

mole2k 05-02-2008 04:54 PM

Its quite easy once you get used to it, you basically pan along with the car. Just start to track the car and follow it then hit the shutter button while still tracking the car. Then with the right shutter speed the background will look motion blurred but the car is sharp.

I've never heard of any specific name for it but basically it happens because you are panning so close the angle of the car changes a lot over the length of the shutter duration the only bit that changes the least is the bit that you are tracking as its in the center. It can be used to great effect, if you want to stop it and get the whole car sharp you basically have to use a higher shutter speed or else change so the car will remain at a more constant angle to you during the exposure.

martboy21 05-02-2008 06:58 PM

please help

wanna upgrade to some think i can take shots of at eden park raceway,my 9mb isnt up to it,this looks capable, someone plaese advise

is the shutter speed and frame rate ok?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/fuji-finepix-S...QQcmdZViewItem

jimmy 05-02-2008 07:05 PM

uhmm, shutter speed and frame rate don't really matter, the shutter lag is apparently good on that camera - which is important.
Not sure how noise-free the images are - but the focusing won't be blisteringly fast, but that's what pre-focusing is for :)

martboy21 05-02-2008 07:23 PM

is it worth it,its got to be than my fujifilm a800? basically from your experience is it capable (if i try)to take similar photos to yours?:) thankyou
