Yeah something to aim for, more competitive etc etc. Plus I think it bring the focus to get the car running right.

Were you there last week? I had my Traxxas Slash rolling around after hours, a good crack. kept me amused anyway.

Mikey, Jules reckons if they can get a system for half a G, then they're there. Trouble is, the software, I doubt that old Bill Jones Program works with AMB, and the money that Rob Nelson charges for his bbk package is nowt short of criminal, he'll be dining out on that one for years;).

Anyyywaaaaay, I digress, last week I stripped my spur gear in the "B" final, was hoping to do this week as on the 23rd I'm doing their track, as they're running electric too (no it's not full of rocks and no the jumps are not too big, i've done it before:rolleyes:)

My only hope is the 87t B4 spur I have (stock is 91t)

I might give it a go, does anyone have an 11 or 12t pinion I could borrow:D

I'll be keeping my Losi XXCR well out of the way of those things.. Break the Cat not a problem (buy new bits, but please not the Losi!)

there's also an offroad 10th electric club starting at SHMCC.org, we're predominatley an onroad tc club, but we had our first meed last week, looking for more racers, and more race meets in the very near future!

mikeyscott 21-08-2009 05:52 PM

Who's racing this weekend? :)

Crazy L 21-08-2009 06:04 PM

I am, but I'm having a go on the dirt, so I'll see you guys maybe next week;)

AlisdairO 21-08-2009 07:52 PM

I'll be there.

AlisdairO 21-08-2009 08:11 PM

Also, if we're looking at timing systems, how about this: http://www.RcLapCounter.com/ ? Had a nose around on the web, and it seems to have got universally positive reviews, while costing vastly less than the AMB stuff. I know you can't use the AMB transponders with it, but given how cheap it is by comparison we could have guest transponders for visitors. Looks like you could get a new working system for $350ish, plus transponders.

That's the system they use at Newbury indoor track, it works on infrared, so all you guys too lazy to paint windows in your cars, will be knackered. the transponders have to have clear line of sight, which means they have to be in the window of your car for the timing loop to be able to "see" them.

It works, but I don't know how well.

AlisdairO 22-08-2009 06:43 AM

Reviews-wise, here's what I found:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...g-systems.html
http://mini-zracer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30831

Seems to work much better than most of the other IR ones - in that it will work through some paint, and will work in full on sunshine too. Couldn't find a bad review anywhere.

I just don't really see us being able to pull together the cash for an AMB system, particularly given that PTs are so insanely expensive. This seems like a good alternative!
