My first Optima Mid
Well, I promised to show some cars, let's start with my first Optima Mid:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Roestig/RC/optima1.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Roestig/RC/optima2.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Roestig/RC/optima3.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Roestig/RC/optima4.jpg Original body that came with the car, wing has suffered from some ill-fated jumps. I have an original and repro wing so that will be fixed somewhere in the future. Installed options are after market red alu turnbuckles, FRP shock tower and upper arm mounts. The shocks are from the Pro X, ESC is a Tekin Rebel, Yokomo modified motor and on the rims are Tamiya "Super Gripper" tires. Edit: forgot to post the picture showing the car underneath the body shell. |

Seems like you didn't click the "picture icon" but just pasted the links. The picture icon looks like a yellow square, with 2 mountain peaks and a little sun. If you click it, a dialog box opens, where you can paste the link to your picture.

Turbo Opima with classic Optima body shell
8 Attachment(s)
My first and only chain drive Optima. It's a Turbo Optima, but I got an extra classic Optima repro body shell for it. Boxart version exceeds my painting skills, but I think this color scheme works well too:

some of you may have seen my heavily modified YR-F2 Special i pulled out of the garage, my dad had lengthened and heightened it so it could have a truck body on it and pull a trailer
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3d6657cf.jpg Any way, not been much of a RC mechanic (dad did it all  ) i was kind of wary of removing stuff, but all the holes seemed to be in the right place, i finally took the plunge when i found the instruction book, seems there are a few parts that aren't quite right like the rear shafts and the wheels are hexagon type ones which dont look like they show in the instructions. But it will looks cool, especially with all the nice blue hop up parts. Changed the wheels to some new ones, and gave it a clean, not taken it apart so still a bit mucky but will do. I've removed the speedo and battery as had no way of testing the electrics, i've left the servo and motor in so i don't loose any of the screws etc, what do you think would it be better to take these out for display? Going to keep it by the way http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...ps07db880a.jpg |
Excellent work Daz! - The YRF2 is one of my favourite touring car chassis, so its great to see this one brought back to excellent original condition
