Pendle 8th

Just got in from today's pendle club meeting, had a real good day. The track is proper off-road with some serious bumps that need to be learned fast. Combine this with big jumps that need to be taken just right and you have a track that demands some respect.

I only took about 5 pictures all day, (no buggy action pics - just a couple of the truggies) so no gallery, but I'll stick-up a couple of track pics later.

I'm starving, and Roast Dinner is nearly ready, later.

Our day out in the woods.

Ace day out on Sunday.

We got lost on the way to pick Jimmy & Vicky up, but got there in the end.

I’m not exactly sure what the event was, it was run through Ripon Car Club and all the pic’s are in ‘Wass Woods’ up on top of Sutton Bank.

The same stage was run twice, once through just before lunch and one just after.

There was this marshal-dude with a massive egg growing out of his head – I wanted to take a picture of it but I thought he may not like it. It was amazing.

I had loads of pickle on my butties, they were great.

That’s about all really.

Vintage - Feb 2nd

Posted 03-02-2008 at 10:21 PM by Stu
Vintage racing at York yesterday. Still enough entries for one heat - not a roaring success but enough for us have a good nights racing, so all's well.

G put the Procat on pole, my XLS second, then Jim’s RC10. The 'MEDDERS' Procat went well all night in fourth, pushing me on occasion. Keith's similar car was in fifth, then the diabolically handling Cobra driven Tom in last.

The RC10 runs very nicely, almost as well as a modern 2wd - fast enough to keep pace with the CAT's. The car shows what can be done with an old school chassis with modern electrics.

By the 1990 date rule Tom's Cobra should not have been running, but as the technology and design of the car is very much in the spirit of the event it was not a problem - it was after all the slowest car there.

In the final I made a mistake on lap 1, letting Jim chase G for...

More

Preston 8th, steep learning curve. We don’t know anything. It was a good job that Tricky, Stu Mahon & Colin were there, or we’d have been bummed.

My car ran OK all day, still running rich though. Not too sure about tuning settings but they were set as the engine instruction say. Damian’s car however was set god-knows-how, Tricky spent a fair bit of time setting it up, with good results. He also helped with fuelling us up and general telling is what was what.

I qualified B2, Damian (after engine trouble that was sorted through the day) was C2. Damian won the C, bumped up to B7. We had a quick very light shower before the B, bad for me, the rubber I was on was shite in the damp. Damian (running Crime Fighters) seemed to love it, breezing past me to take the B final win, bumping up to the A.

A 10 minute ‘C’, followed by a 15 minute ‘B’...

Crazy -
Total madness -

I'm off out now 'cos I need a beer.
We thought it would be a nice relaxed club meeting affair - it was not, but in a good way.

I'll add more later, off out now.
