So parts turned up this week.
TAMIYA TT02 Kit Wheels I have decided to use Tyres Click pics to enlarge.... |
Wheels & Tyres
So not from the drift side of RC, this was totally new to me. Opening the tyres up, well not exactly rubber, but rock hard plastic....:o How was I getting these on the rims..... So quick you tube check and wham !! Boil them.
So out with the Mrs pan, boiled the water up dropped the tyres in for approx 1 minute..... then ouch !! these are hot, so back into the draw, get the Mrs prongs out and perfect. I grabbed the tyres from the pan, placed them on the Mrs tea towel, then on to the rim, quick push and they went on treat. You drift guys may use a better way, but being my first time with these tyre rocks, it worked a great...... Pics coming.... |
Tyres mounted...

SUPERVAN Bodies... REPSOL & MARTINI
4 Attachment(s)
Having both bodies turn up last week. I must say they look awesome.
MARTINI... The MARTINI comes with complete MARTINI decals and all you need to complete the SUPERVAN. The body looks fantastic and the detail is great. It also came with all the window masks.... REPSOL... The REPSOL. I was slightly disappointed with this for one reason. You do not get all the REPSOL decals to complete the REPSOL SUPERVAN. I have got round this by purchasing the ESCORT Rally Car decal sheet, this for me is a little disappointing, but again you get all the window masks and the body is fantastic..... So be mindful, that if you get the REPSOL SUPERVAN you will not get the full decal sheet.... I must say also that, L&L Models was great to deal with and service was excellent. Here are the pictures of the SUPERVANS.... They are the best I could take being clear..... Click pics to enlarge..... |
Getting exciting Mark..😃...wheels look great, should be fun on drift tyres..!
Why 2 bodies..? Where is MST.....? |

I couldn't decide which body to go for. So I had both. There is approx 10 different SUPERVANS, so could end up with all 10.....:thumbsup: They do, AA Royal Mail GULF Mr Whippy UPS SNAP-ON FEDEX Road Version REPSOL MARTINI MST Im not sure where they are. A quick search shows Canada, but I think they could be Japanese. Maybe the drift guys/girls could answer this... On the box is www.rc-mst.com |

Chassis Built to Kit....
3 Attachment(s)
So chassis built up in standard kit form. Having placed the body over the chassis, I can see that wheelbase is perfect as built to kit instructions. This kit has 3 adjustable wheelbase settings. Short, Medium and long. With the kit bumper fitted the body will not fit. The body is too far forward. So I will be purchasing a new bumper off ebay. There's a number of different size bumpers so I will purchase a 21mm for the front and Im also going to fit a rear bumper so I will be going for the 53mm. I can then use bumper foam to space etc....
Also looking at the wheel width. The settings are 3, 5, 7, 9. I will also need the longer axles and alloy hex spacers to get the look I want. Once I have sorted the spacings I want, I will post what I have used..... Click on pictures to enlarge.... |
Looking good..👍..interesting that it adjusts to different wheelbase.!
That basic motor will be fine with drift tyres..! Shame about Mr Whippy..maybe later..😃 |
Wheels, Tyres ready & Hexes...
5 Attachment(s)
With the tyre decals turning up, It was time to see if they would fit. They fit perfect.
Now with the hex spacing, this has been a mess about job trying to get the correct width I wanted. I have had to fit the TAMIYA long axles all round, and fit 15mm long 12mm hex extensions. This gives the spacing I want for the wheel against the wheel arch. The decals were a little bit of a pain to fit and get central. Looking at the decals before fitting I noticed they were handed, meaning they were rotational so had to be fitted to make sides....:) Alloy black Hex extensions & tyre decals are from ebay.... Click pictures to enlarge.... |
Wheels and tyres look great now Mark...👍

Wheels & Hexes fitted.
3 Attachment(s)
Having the hexes turned up and the wheels ready, it was time to play around with the width and get them how I wanted them with the body cut out and in place.
Hexes, The hexes come in red and black alloy and come in various widths. Also in the packet you get x4 wheel pins and x4 nuts with female threads that thread on to the axles. So it doesn't really matter if the hex passes the thread as the nut screws inside the hex on to the thread of the axle. Another fluke was the centre nut that came with the hexes match the tiny nuts on the wheels.....:) The hex width I went for was 15mm by standard 12mm hex.. Click to enlarge pictures.... |

Chassis complete.
3 Attachment(s)
With the body posts fitted, wheels & tyres now mounted and the bumpers fitted, the chassis is now completed.
I have fitted the 21mm front bumper, this needed to be trimmed down further to allow the body to fit correctly. I fitted the 53mm rear bumper, this needed a bumper foam added to again space correctly. The body is now a snug fit with no flapping around the bumper area due to the size of the body gaps between the bumpers. Now on to the best bit. The Transit SUPERVAN Body......:) Click to enlarge pictures... |
They really do look brilliant..👍
Incidentally, you never put final photos of your Escort Cosworth build up.! I was really looking forward to those. Is it possible to add them.? |

For the Cosworth body.... unfortunately its no longer with me. :( I thought I had put the pictures up.... Sorry......:( |
Body...
So this week I have been working on the body cutting it out and getting it how I want it to sit on the chassis. I have trimmed the arches down so there is no lip on them. I want the arches on the tyres. I have also added a additional 0.5mm spacer behind the wheel pin to extend the axle out. There is still enough play in the axles when the wheels are locked up.
Here are a few shots of the body on. I still have a little dremelling to do on the arches but almost there with the fit. It will give you an idea of how it will look.... I will also be using magnetic body mounts so no holes in the body. I will post pictures of them also...... |
Temp body shots
